So, this possibility was swirling around my head and I don't want to clog the c-box, so...

What if Hailpaw joined the Experiment (or a Clan that was made) with her kits? First, she'd try to talk to Shortwhisker, and when that fails, she'd just ask Spiderstripe and join. However, this would cause tension of a kind because well, they're Shortwhisker's kits and he doesn't want anyone to know. (Well, Dottedfoot does, but she's keeping quiet about it.) Hailpaw wouldn't shout it to the world, but she wouldn't lie, if asked.

Shortwhisker would definitely want her to avoid telling at almost any cost and would be likely to consult Dottedfoot about it, after he recovered from passing out (he doesn't know that there are kits).

Also, another thing I like about this idea is that in the past, Shortwhisker... er, hasn't expressed the same soft-spot for kits that others have. Patchfur and Dingypaw are both critical of him in that aspect.

Then, when he has a chance to interact with real kits, he's not going to be nice to them at all. That should get some angry rebukes -- but why would they suspect anything, you know? Shortwhisker is just being Shortwhisker. He wouldn't be able to explain himself, but I doubt they'd catch on (from that alone, anyway... Hailpaw might say something fishy).

This can't stay a secret forever. We know that. However, I'd like to prolong it for a while because it's going to be a big drain on Shortwhisker and I'd like to see him handle a real problem for once.

Okay. o3o Easy enough, as Hail wouldn't say outright. Unlike Dotted, though, she would enjoy threatening him and chastising him for his disdain of his kits. She wouldn't tell her kits - yet. However, she would threaten Shortwhisker with that. Dottedfoot would attempt to keep Hailpaw quiet (good luck, Dotted) and she would try and comfort Shortwhisker, having sympathy with him, though disliking the way he treats his kits. If asked, Hail would say that the father left her - which is true. I'm also wondering what would happen if Grimykit came into the picture...Hailpaw would ignore/hate him and teach her kits to do likewise.

On a side note, Stonekit wouldn't care. He'd just try to avoid Shortwhisker. If/When HAilpaw told him he was his father, (or that Grimykit was) he'd be disgusted and possibly hate her for it. He's probably going to attach himself to a devoted Clanner...not Patchfur, because I know Stonekit will want to be leader; it's just like him. But Woodstripe is a possibility, or Spiderstripe, Redstream...he'll want someone to look up to. And of course, to be his mentor.

In order for him to be disgusted about either of them being his father, though, he has to first decide that they're awful cats. And stop getting so ahead of yourself. x) Not much has happened; you don't know him that well.

I'm allowed to have ideas about my own character, aren't I? I know what he's like. Plus, remember that I'm used to planning things, i.e, FoF. Yes I know this isn't FoF, but still. ;P
